The corner of Main St. and Broadway where The Independent condo development will sit is the source of a lot of debate within the Mount Pleasant community. Many groups have been vocal in their opposition of any project being built. But the city has applied strict conditions to the project based around public greenspace, community amenities and social outreach. The developers seem anxious to exceed those asks to create a landmark development that will become the spark for positive change in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

The Independent Interiors
Expect clean Danish inspired modernism for the interiors at the Independent on Main. This new Vancouver condo will have all of the thing you expect such as open plan kitchens, lots of natural light, and high overall energy efficiency. This new Vancouver presale will have tile flooring and appliances integrated into the cabinetry with two colour options to choose from.

Residents will have access to a dog spa to wash and groom pets, outdoor dog walk, and a workshop that includes bike repair and workstations and tool lockers.
The large, onsite fitness area will feature with lockers and top-of-the-line exercise equipment.
Developer Team for The Independent Condos
Rize Alliance Properties are spearheading this development. They are responsible for OnQue in Mount Pleasant and the Rolston on Granville St. in Downtown Vancouver.
They tapped the creative designers from Acton Ostry Architects. They provided the blueprints for 999 Seymour near the Granville St. bridge and Stella near 12th and Kingsway.
Expected Completion for The Independent Condos
Construction should begin by spring 2015, with completion slated for summer 2017.
Parking and Storage
The plan calls for 399 parking spaces on 4 underground levels. Storage for up to 320 bikes is also accounted for in the existing plans.
